Abstract
The importance of implementing the educational traditions of the Cossacks in modern realities is updated, which is due not only to their pro-Ukrainian national and military-patriotic character, but also to the uniqueness of the pedagogical methods and techniques used by our ancestors. The purpose of the article is to characterize on the basis of the philosophy of education the peculiarities of the education of the high military art of the Cossacks on the example of the life and struggle of the Cossack leaders as the basis of the military-patriotic education of modern youth. The feats of the Cossack leaders Severyn Nalivaiko, Ivan Sirko, Taras Fedorovych, Ivan Bohun, Maksym Kryvonos, Ivan Honta, Maksym Zalizniak, who are examples of excellence in military art, the embodiment of patriotism, courage and devotion to the Ukrainian people, are analyzed. Based on the achievements of Cossack education, author noted the need to introduce Cossack-chivalric traditions into the modern educational process, especially in the matter of military-patriotic education of modern Ukrainian youth. The military-patriotic education of modern youth in educational institutions of various levels should be based on modern methods that form schoolchildren's instructions, needs and value orientations regarding the development of military skill and physical qualities during training, classes in sports sections (especially horting), tourist groups, in the process of individual self-improvement. Studying the essence of Cossack education as a system of organic combination of ideas of folk pedagogy, Ukrainian studies, folk traditions, customs, folkloristics author characterized the classification of methods of the educational process on the territory of the Cossack state, which are expedient to apply even in our time.
