Abstract

This article proposes a sociological analysis of the meaning-making processes that occur at the intersection of science and religion in the modern scientific community in Poland. On the material of 50 in-depth interviews with Polish physicist and biologists we show an «amalgam» character of their narrative about meaning of universe and human life. The problem of meaning demands answers onrelated questions, which in the studied grouping volve some scientific and religious content. It is possible to identify two stable «amalgams » of such responses – the religious and non-religious ones.
